Accra: The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has firmly stated that the party will not allow individuals to simultaneously hold party and government positions. He emphasized that government appointees wishing to contest for party roles must first resign from their government positions.
According to Ghana Web, Kwetey addressed concerns during a press briefing on January 29, 2026, about party members serving in government while seeking party positions. He stressed that the NDC is not short of capable individuals and that it is unfair for a few to monopolize leadership roles. Kwetey highlighted the party's vast pool of competent members ready to manage both party and national affairs.
Kwetey's address pointed out the need to curtail excesses and promote fairness within the party. He urged those interested in party work to resign from their government posts to demonstrate full dedication to the NDC. He emphasized that holding multiple offices would no longer be tolerated, reinforcing the principle that party service requires complete commitment.
The General Secretary concluded by encouraging members to focus on party responsibilities and contribute significantly to its growth and success.
