Accra: Family Health University (FHU) has celebrated the graduation of 318 new healthcare professionals at its December 2025 ceremony held at the university's forecourt in Accra. The graduates hail from the Medical School and School of Nursing and Midwifery, marking a significant milestone in their professional journeys.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event was themed 'Building Bridges and Raising Ladders for the Next Generation of Healthcare Providers.' Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, Founder and Vice Chancellor of Family Health University/Hospital, delivered the keynote address, recognizing the graduates' resilience and commitment to excellence.
The ceremony saw 73 medical students graduating, with 30 awarded the Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences for completing their pre-clinical studies. The remaining 43 candidates received the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree after fulfilling their clinical requirements. Prof. Kwawukume expressed confidence in the new doctors' ability to enhance Ghana's healthcare system.
Additionally, the School of Nursing and Midwifery graduated 245 students, including 111 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, 64 with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, and 70 Nurse Assistant Clinical graduates. Prof. Kwawukume praised them for choosing a profession that requires empathy and dedication.
He also highlighted FHU's growth, citing faculty recruitment, infrastructure expansion, and international partnerships. The university collaborates with the University of Virginia on adolescent health research and hosts exchange programs with the University of Michigan, focusing on maternal and child health.
Guest of Honour, Air Commodore D. A. Akrong, encouraged the graduates to uphold high service standards and act as bridges between 'pain and healing, despair and hope.' He commended the university's leadership and the families of the graduates for their support.
Five graduates received top honors for their academic achievements. The ceremony concluded with messages of congratulations, attended by notable dignitaries including Dr. Susu Bridget Kwawukume and Brig. Gen. Daniel K. Frimpong (Rtd.).
