Accra:Ghanaian musician Fameye has shared that rapper Medikal played a significant role in his decision not to attend university, choosing instead to focus on a music career.
According to Ghana Web, Fameye recounted an encounter with Medikal on the day they were both scheduled to take a Mathematics examination. He noticed Medikal leaving instead of entering the exam hall. Upon questioning, Medikal explained that he had a performance commitment and would not be taking the exam.
Fameye admitted that he initially entered the exam hall but felt out of place due to the lack of assistance from his peers. He used the opportunity of a bathroom break to leave the exam, ultimately deciding not to complete it.
At the time, Fameye was already invested in rap music and had been advised by a senior to consider singing instead, prompting him to explore and develop his vocal talents.
Reflecting on his decision, Fameye realized that skipping the Mathematics exam limited his chances of university admission. However, he chose to pivot towards a music career, inspired by Medikal's resolve and success.
Fameye also mentioned that Medikal, after achieving fame, supported him financially and encouraged him to be patient and persistent in his musical pursuits. Despite acknowledging Medikal's influence on his educational choices, Fameye clarified that he does not blame the rapper, but rather views him as an inspiration.
