Embrace the Future with Courage: Minister Advises AUCB Graduates

Accra: Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has encouraged graduates of the African University of Communication and Business (AUCB) to face the future with bravery and contribute significantly to national development. In his address delivered at the 22nd congregation of AUCB in Accra, the Minister highlighted the need for graduates capable of critical thinking, effective communication, confident innovation, and ethical leadership in the technological landscape of Ghana.

According to Ghana News Agency, the University celebrated the graduation of 451 students, including 213 Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies graduates, 87 BSc in Business Administration graduates, and 10 recipients of the professional certificate in fine and creative arts programmes. The ceremony focused on the theme: 'The Government Education Policy: Implications for Private Tertiary Institutions', prompting reflections on how educational reforms impact private tertiary institutions.

The Minister emphasized that government policies aim to empower private institutions, enhance quality, and recognize them as essential partners in developing human capital, rather than overshadowing them. He stressed that private investors complement public investors as crucial allies in national development and that the future of education in Ghana hinges on the collaboration between government and private sectors.

Mr Iddrisu outlined four key pillars of government policy, including quality assurance, digitisation and technology integration, financing, partnership, sustainability and entrepreneurship support, and industry collaboration. He assured that the government is focused on equipping tertiary graduates with competitive skills through strengthened accreditation processes, industry-driven curriculum reviews, and enhanced support for academic staff development.

Professor Abeku Blankson, Vice Chancellor of AUCB, announced that the University attained a Presidential Charter on December 19, 2024, granting it legal status and autonomy to independently confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates. He noted the University's strategic shift toward practical, real-world applications of knowledge and its reinforced academic partnerships locally and internationally.

Ms Mensah Regina Antwiwaa, the valedictorian, praised the University's management for their educational guidance and acknowledged the collective efforts behind their achievements. Despite challenges, she affirmed their determination to transform challenges into opportunities and ideas into action. Ms Regina Mensah Antwiwaa was recognized as the overall best graduating student at the undergraduate level, while Ms Henrrietta De Gaulle Firmin received the award for the best postgraduate student. Other students were also honored for their exceptional performance.
