Accra: The Efor, Kpogo and Agbavitor Family Union (EKA Family Union) of Avenorpeme in the Volta Region has intensified its efforts to improve the welfare of its members and contribute to regional development through initiatives in healthcare, education, and community infrastructure.
According to Ghana Web, the Union's major initiatives include supporting a local health facility with medical supplies, acquiring land for a new cemetery, and improving educational opportunities for children. These initiatives were highlighted at the fourth Annual General Meeting of the EKA Family Union held at Gokukope, a suburb of Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality on September 12, 2026.
The meeting gathered family members to review the Union's activities, evaluate progress on development initiatives, and discuss plans to strengthen the family and contribute to Avenorpeme's development. Rev Emmanuel Dordzie, Chairman of the EKA Family Union, stated that the Union had made significant progress in addressing challenges faced by the family and the community.
Rev Dordzie noted that, with support from family and friends, the Union provided medical supplies to the health facility in Avenorpeme, enhancing healthcare delivery in the area. The facility indicated that this support might bolster its case for upgrading to polyclinic status.
The Union has also focused on education, recognizing it as crucial for the community's future development. The education interventions are part of the Union's broader commitment to investing in the welfare and future of family members and residents.
Additionally, the Union acquired two acres for a new cemetery, addressing concerns about the existing cemetery's capacity. The new cemetery is registered and operational, with the Union planning to develop it into a well-maintained facility.
Rev Dordzie emphasized that the Union's success relies on the collective commitment of family members. The annual general meeting allowed members to celebrate achievements, identify challenges, share ideas, and plan for the future. He urged members to actively participate and contribute ideas and resources to build a strong and credible family organization.
The meeting concluded with a call for unity and active participation to sustain the Union's achievements and advance its development agenda. The Union remains committed to using collective strength to support education, healthcare, and other initiatives that will improve lives in the area.
