Ejisu and Juaben to have 10 additional electoral areas

Ejisu (Ash)-The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced plans to create 10 additional Electoral Areas in the Ejisu and the Juaben Constituencies.

Mr. Ofori Gyamfi, the Ejisu Municipal Electoral Officer, told a stakeholders meeting that this had become necessary by population growth, expansion of human settlements, land disputes and other factors.

He added that the creation of the new electoral areas could also help to bring development to those areas.

The EC had already done all the needed stakeholder consultations.

The Ejisu Constituency, which currently has 28 electoral areas, is going to have six additional ones and Juaben would see its present total of 19 go up to 24.

The stakeholders, made up of assembly members and representatives of the political parties welcomed the decision to create more electoral areas in the two constituencies.
