Accra: Mr. Bennett Emma Raymond, the Headteacher of Gina's Angel School, has highlighted the significant role that educational trips play in enhancing students' general learning and education. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Raymond stated that the primary aim of organizing these trips is to offer students real-life experiences that align with the concepts they learn in the classroom. Mr. Raymond explained that educational trips expose students to practical situations, which broadens their knowledge and aids in understanding how classroom concepts are applied in real-world contexts. He noted that such experiences make learning more meaningful and enjoyable, thereby improving information retention and fostering the development of observation skills, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking abilities. He emphasized that educational trips effectively bridge the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to connect more deeply with the learning process. As the founder of Intellect School Qui z Educational Consult in Tema, Mr. Raymond recommended that schools should organize educational trips at least once per term or twice in an academic year, depending on the institution's resources and how the trips align with the subjects studied in class. Mr. Raymond also pointed out that these trips encourage students to interact with classmates, teachers, and others they encounter, thereby developing strong communication and interpersonal skills. He suggested that teachers leverage the experiences and observations from these trips for teaching purposes by engaging students in discussions, reports, drawings, and projects post-trip. He further mentioned that educational trips assist teachers in connecting lessons to real-life situations, making teaching more interactive and effective. Additionally, they benefit slow learners and those with learning difficulties by providing hands-on learning experiences and promoting learning in various environments.
