Accra: The Ministry of Education has received four electric vehicles from South Korea, a gesture aimed at bolstering the government’s efforts to advance national STEM education. The vehicles, presented through the DB Kim Junki Foundation, are intended to support transportation and logistical needs at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development located in Bunso, Eastern Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donation includes three BYD electric saloon cars and one electric SAIC Dana Delivery Van for official use. These vehicles are anticipated to facilitate the distribution of educational materials, thereby enhancing the operational efficiency of the institution. Prior to the donation, an Electric Vehicle Charging Bay was constructed at the Bunso campus by the DB Kim Junki Foundation in collaboration with Nubemar Limited and Sourcertz Technology, featuring dual AC and DC charging capabilities to support various electric vehicle models.

e Minister of Education, expressed gratitude to the Korean company for its support. He highlighted that the University, set to open this academic year, will focus on agriculture, science, and engineering, serving as a 21st-century hub for learning. Dr. Adutwum emphasized the importance of strengthening STEM education to equip the nation with well-trained manpower essential for global competitiveness in the modern industry.
The Minister also commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his continuous support of STEM and TVET education in Ghana. He encouraged stakeholders to actively contribute to the educational transformation aimed at propelling the nation’s economic development.
In a show of commitment to ongoing collaboration, Mr. Inwoo Yoo (Linus), CEO of Nubemar Limited, affirmed the company’s dedication to partnering with the government to further educational development in Ghana.
The initiative is part of the broader educational transformation agenda led by President Akufo-Addo since 2017, whi
ch includes establishing new educational institutions across various levels and refurbishing existing ones. The operationalization of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development marks a significant milestone following the completion of its first phase, aligning with the government’s vision for a modernized education sector.
