Accra: The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have commenced training for heads of second-cycle institutions in the Eastern Region ahead of the 2026 admission exercise.
According to Ghana News Agency, the orientation programme, held in Koforidua, gathered heads of Senior High Schools, Senior High Technical Schools, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to enhance their understanding of admission procedures and operational guidelines. Facilitators from the Ministry of Education guided participants through the technical processes and protocols necessary to ensure a smooth, transparent, and effective admission exercise.
Dr Ivy Asantewa Owusu, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, explained that the programme aimed to equip heads of institutions with the necessary knowledge to effectively manage the admission process. The orientation was organised in two cohorts to provide participants with ample opportunities to engage facilitators and gain a clear understanding of the admission procedures. She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service for organising the programme.
Dr Owusu emphasized that the training would bolster the preparedness of heads of institutions for the admission exercise. The orientation also served as an opportunity to reinforce the Ghana Education Service's admission protocols and operational policies among heads of institutions. She urged participants to focus on the training, ensuring that the guidance provided by facilitators was properly understood and applied during the admission exercise.
Dr Owusu expressed confidence that the programme would enhance the readiness of participating heads and enable them to effectively implement approved procedures during the 2026 admission exercise.
