Accra: The E-mort School Complex, a private educational institution in Ghana, has entered into an agreement with the Yaroslavi Pedagogical University of Russia to offer Russian Language classes as an extra-curricular activity. This initiative is part of a cultural exchange program designed to provide young Ghanaians with skills that may open future opportunities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the agreement was formalized during the opening of a two-day seminar themed 'How to Better Understand Russians.' The event aimed to enhance cultural, academic, and diplomatic relations between Ghana and the Russian Federation by increasing understanding of Russian culture, education, and innovation.
Professor Alexander Kofi Preko, the Founder of E-mort School Complex, emphasized the advantage of learning foreign languages at an early age, highlighting the competitive edge it provides for Ghanaian children globally. He encouraged students considering international studies to view Russia as a potential destination, drawing from his own educational experiences in Russian universities.
Ms. Natalia Muzhehennikova, Consular at the Russian Embassy in Ghana, addressed misconceptions about Russians perpetuated by media stereotypes, which she believes have deterred some students from pursuing opportunities in Russia. She emphasized the importance of understanding Russian language, culture, and history to foster mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation.
Ms. Kravets Valeriia, Deputy Head of the International Department at Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University, announced plans for joint educational activities between the two institutions. This includes establishing a center for open education to promote Russian culture and language.
