Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh Advocates for Issue-Based Campaigning in NPP

Kumasi: Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2024 running mate, has called on party members and supporters to ensure that internal campaign activities remain peaceful and focused on substantive issues. He warned against allowing tensions to escalate into insults, aggression, or violence.

According to Ghana Web, Dr Opoku Prempeh shared his message in a statement on his Facebook page after meeting with regional and constituency officers at the Longfield Event Centre in Santasi, Kumasi. He acknowledged the possibility of incidents and disagreements during internal contests but emphasized the need for discipline and maturity to maintain the party's unity and core values.

Dr Opoku Prempeh urged aspirants, campaign teams, and delegates to focus on a contest of ideas and positions while respecting each other. He highlighted that the long-term strength of the party depends on its conduct before, during, and after internal elections. He stressed that internal contests should not lead to permanent divisions and that the party must focus on rebuilding trust, strengthening structures, and moving forward with a shared purpose.

He also emphasized the importance of reconciliation after internal campaigns, urging party members to return to a united front ready to progress together. Dr Opoku Prempeh called on party faithful to demonstrate leadership and uphold principles of respect and discipline, describing unity as the party's most valuable asset in delivering hope and development to Ghanaians.
