Sunyani:Former Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized the NDC government for the increase in illegal mining activities, known as galamsey, claiming it has more than tripled under their administration.
According to Ghana Web, Dr. Bawumia made these remarks during the NPP Thanksgiving Service at the Church of Pentecost in Sunyani. He mocked the government's "133" economy promise, suggesting it might have been a reference to the spread of galamsey. He highlighted the irony by recalling a statement from Dr. Sam Jonah about the country's river bodies resembling chocolate milk due to pollution.
Dr. Bawumia accused the government of failing to combat galamsey effectively, resulting in heavily polluted water bodies and suffering communities. He also criticized the unmet promises of a new economy and job creation, indicating that Ghanaians continue to face high living costs despite claims of reduced inflation.
