Dr Ato Forson Urges Ghana to Leverage Economic Recovery for Job Creation

Accra:Ghana Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has emphasized the importance of transforming Ghana's economic recovery into tangible improvements in living standards, job creation, and increased production. He highlighted that while restoring economic stability is a crucial initial step, the focus must now shift to building a productive economy that offers real opportunities for Ghanaians.

According to Ghana Web, Dr. Forson made these remarks during an address to students and faculty at the University of Ghana. He elaborated on his vision for the country's New Economy, stating that economic stabilization is merely the starting point and should lead to tangible benefits for the citizens. He acknowledged the progress made in reducing inflation and managing debt pressures, but stressed the need for these gains to result in stronger economic activity and improved household incomes.

He outlined that creating the New Economy would involve increasing local production, adding value to natural resources, and expanding industries. This approach aims to boost production and create employment opportunities. Furthermore, Dr. Forson called for public investment to foster private sector growth, suggesting that government spending should create favorable conditions for businesses to invest, expand, and hire more workers.

The ultimate goal, as articulated by Dr. Forson, is to transform the sacrifices made during the recovery phase into sustainable economic benefits, including decent work and prosperity for all Ghanaians.
