Dormaahene is the supervisor of renovation works at Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), Uncharacteristic of many traditional rulers, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area, has assumed the role of a supervisor of the on-going renovation works at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro.

The personal supervision and monitoring by the chief, was to ensure that, work is completed in earnest to meet the deadline set out by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) ahead of the 2018 CAF Champions League.

The Chief usually report on site between 0080hours to 1700hours daily throughout the week to oversee activities and acquaint himself with the progress of work.

The upgrading of the facility has become necessary following Aduana Stars annexation of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League title (GPL) and the team’s qualification for the CAF Championship League next year.

The facility when upgraded will have an anti-doping centre, eight athletic tracks, a re-grassed pitch, floodlight, two water closet toilet, four new supporters stands and an underground pipe system designed to water the pitch during the dry season.

Barely two weeks since works on rehabilitating the Stadium began, the Chief has always been spotted either holding various meetings with personal aides including sub-chiefs notably the Akyempimhene at the VIP area of the Stadium or occasionally moving from one point to the other keeping a close eye on activities there.

Mr Kumi Obeng, one of the supervisors maintained that Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, was keen on seeing the project reach an advanced level, so that can take a back step to attend to other equally important tasks due to his unstable and busy schedule.

Other personalities who usually monitor the project, together with the chief included Mr Albert Commey, the Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars, Mr George Gyewu, the Operations Manager of Aduana Stars, Atta De Bango, Team Manager, Baba Aluta, the Welfare Manager of Aduana Stars and some executives of the Aduana Supporters Union among other officials.

Osagyefo’s movements and inspection at the Stadium is done in the company of his aides, but he sometimes ignores them when he had to fetch a number of blocks himself.

Some of the residents file into the stadium from time to time to follow progress of work.

Payment of labourers on site for services rendered was done promptly through the Chief’s personal secretary.

When the GNA asked whether the presence of the chief at the Stadium and payment of money at the full glare of some members of the public raises any security concerns, the Chief Superintendent Washington Folie, the Dormaa Municipal Police Commander said there was no cause for alarm.

“The people are his subjects. His own people and Attah De Bango and others are usually with him all time,” he said.

A recent call for members of the public to volunteer support particularly in re-grassing the pitch received a massive boost and patronage as many men and women had turned up in their working gears wielding tools such as rakes, shovels and wheel barrows to contribute to works on the pitch with speed.

They have been drawn from different parts of Dormaa from areas such as Danyame, Kurin, Aboabo among other communities.
