District Level Elections: EC pays over GHS69 million to temporary staff

The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that it has compensated nearly all the temporary staff that served during the district-level elections in December 2023.

A statement released by Michael Boadu, the Director of Public Affairs, confirmed that payments have been made to 116,211 temporary staff members.

The statement detailed that a sum of GHS69,164,842.11 has been disbursed to the temporary staff.

The EC acknowledged that only 46 temporary staff members remain unpaid, with the amount involved coming up to GHS24,263.16.

Furthermore, the EC said it is transitioning to a modern recruitment process for temporary employees by digitizing its data collection systems.

This initiative aims to refine and expedite the payment process for all temporary officials, thereby avoiding delays.

“The new digital system will also streamline administrative tasks, diminish paperwork, and guarantee the precision and security of data.

“This strategy marks a considerable advancement in enhancing operational efficiency and
resource management within the Commission,” the statement elaborated.
