Accra: Former Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has expressed dissatisfaction with a court ruling concerning the travel orders of his client, former NAFCO Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba. Despite successfully having an application struck out, Dame argued that it was moot as the travel orders expired on July 12, 2026, and the court failed to enforce the return of his client's passport, which remains with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
According to Ghana Web, Dame addressed the media following the court proceedings on July 16, 2026, questioning the court's decision not to mandate the return of Aludiba's passport to the court registry. He highlighted that the court had previously directed the passport's return by July 14, 2026, post his client's travel. However, compliance was impossible due to EOCO's re-arrest and detention of Aludiba.
Dame expressed confusion over the court's inaction, stating, "The order for the passport to return to registry was actually given by the court. It was part of the court's orders both at the time the bail was granted to him and also at the time this order for him to travel was granted." He further indicated that his legal team would refrain from further applications for the passport's release unless the court enforced its orders.
He criticized the state for obstructing compliance with the court's directives, accusing it of deliberate interference by arresting and detaining Aludiba. Dame described the Attorney General's application as "incompetent," noting it was filed post-expiration of the travel order.
Dame highlighted, "They prevented the court's order from being obeyed by arresting him and detaining him for the period of 4 days and 4 nights." He added that the state's actions, including seizing Aludiba's passport, orchestrated the lapse of the travel order.
Currently, Aludiba faces charges including willfully causing financial loss to the state and defrauding by false pretences in the Buffer Stock case.
