Accra: Following the warm reception accorded to Akosua Serwaa, widow of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, at the Kotoka International Airport, the Asantehene’s Nkosuohene has also weighed in on the matter, sparking widespread discussion on social media.
According to Ghana Web, Otumfuo’s Nkosuohene, Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie, stated in a viral video on January 12, 2026, that Akosua Serwaa Fosu is the only surviving spouse of the late Highlife icon. The Asanteman Nkosuohene expressed confidence that Akosua Serwaa Fosu is the only woman the late Daddy Lumba publicly introduced as his wife, dismissing any claims regarding Odo Broni as the musician’s widow.
Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie emphasized his support for Akosua Serwaa, urging ‘Team Legal Wives,’ supporters of Akosua Serwaa Fosu, to stand firmly with her during her time of grief. He stated, “I will not come here to insult anyone who says something that is not true, but I know who I support. I know who my brother, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, married. So if anyone says otherwise, that is up to the person.”
The Nkosuohene further encouraged Akosua Serwaa to remain strong, assuring her of eventual victory. He reiterated his stance by stating, “Anytime I pray, I pray for Maame Akosua Serwaa. All I have to tell her is that she should be strong, because I know victory is hers. Akosua Serwaa Fosu is the only person I know.”
Concluding his remarks, Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie called for unity and support for Akosua Serwaa Fosu, affirming, “Everyone knows that I am a truthful person, and what I have said is the truth. Therefore, you should take what I have said and support Akosua Serwaa. Do not change my words. I do not know anybody aside from Akosua Serwaa.”
