Accra:Cynthia Morrison, the former Member of Parliament for Agona West, has confirmed her continued membership with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) despite her decision to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections. She clarified that this choice did not signify her departure from the party.
According to Ghana Web, Morrison expressed no regrets about her independent candidacy, though she lamented the NPP's loss of the Agona West seat. She emphasized her ongoing involvement in political activities and her commitment to the party, even after the 2024 elections.
In an interview with Starr FM, Morrison stated that she remained actively engaged in politics while managing her personal business ventures. When asked about her party affiliation, she confirmed her membership, questioning, "Did I leave NPP?"
Morrison explained that her decision to run independently stemmed from specific circumstances that needed attention, particularly regarding how internal grievances were addressed. She likened unresolved disputes to children's complaints of bullying, stressing the importance of understanding these issues to prevent lasting harm.
Her connection to the Agona West constituency extends beyond her political role. Morrison highlighted her deep ties to the area, partly due to her husband's roots there, and her desire to support the community that had embraced her.
