Curfew on Gushegu District Lifted by Interior Minister

Gushegu: The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, Thursday lifted the curfew imposed on 12 communities in the Gushegu District of the Northern Region. The areas affected by the curfew included Paboni, Yidaani, Kukpok, Busun Number One and Two, Nagnani, Nayagile, Donbin, Kolik, Tinyongu, and Klokpan.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by the Ministry attributed the lifting of the curfew to a significant improvement in the security situation in the area. The Ministry appealed to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and all residents to exercise restraint amidst challenges and to employ non-violent means to ensure peaceful coexistence.

The statement further emphasized a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects within the district. It warned that individuals found in possession of such items would face arrest and prosecution.
