Accra: The High Court in Accra appears to have moved to enforce a takeover of the No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel in Osu, which is reportedly owned by Ghanaian business mogul and former presidential hopeful Nana Kwame Bediako.
According to Ghana Web, the managers of the facility, Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited, earlier refuted reports of the takeover ordered by the court. Viral videos from the hotel show that the takeover was already in force. They displayed the inscription, 'POSSESSION TAKEN BY COURT ORDER, 23/7/2026' written on some of the walls of the hotel and showed police presence at the hotel, with a police vehicle parked at its entrance.
In a statement released on Thursday, July 23, 2026, the management of Oxford No. 1 Hotel said the property remains under its possession and control. The statement follows a ruling by the Commercial Division of the High Court in Accra on July 21, 2026, which granted a warrant of police assistance to Cola Holdings and its appointed Receiver, Nii Amanor Dodoo, to take possession of the hotel over a disputed debt.
However, KRP1 Ltd, where Nana Kwame Bediako serves as a director, insists the order does not immediately transfer control of the hotel, arguing that the seven-day period attached to the warrant has not expired. "The order, granted by the court on July 21, 2026, authorises the Police to assist Cola Holdings Ltd in taking possession, but it does not take effect until seven (7) days after the date of the order," the statement said.
