Ketu south: Mr Clemence Kofi Agbotey, a government appointee at the Ketu South Assembly, has announced his intention to run for the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency. He aims to bolster party structures and enhance grassroots mobilisation.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Agbotey expressed his motivation to contribute to the party's growth and improve its organisational capacity at the constituency level. He presented a vision focused on strengthening internal party systems, fostering community engagement, and supporting effective electoral campaigns to boost the party's performance.
Mr Agbotey pledged to collaborate closely with the Constituency Secretary to enhance coordination among party units, improve communication, and encourage active participation from members at all levels. He stressed the importance of intensifying voter registration efforts, especially among youth and first-time voters, to maintain the party's community presence.
Highlighting his background, Mr Agbotey shared that he served as an elected Assembly Member for the Blekusu Electoral Area for eight years, contributing to local governance and community development. Currently, he holds positions as the Som© Fugo Zonal Secretary and Branch Chairman for the Blekusu Health Post and is a Government Appointee to the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.
Mr Agbotey has participated in various roles within the party's electoral processes, including polling agent, Election Directorate member, and Ward Collation Officer, gaining valuable experience in election management and party organisation. He believes these experiences provide him with a practical understanding of both party operations and grassroots dynamics, which he intends to bring to the Deputy Secretary role.
He stated that he would prioritise capacity building for party members, foster collaboration with stakeholders, and promote inclusive participation to strengthen the party's base. Mr Agbotey expressed confidence that with collective effort and commitment, the party could continue to maintain a strong presence in the constituency.
Concluding his announcement, Mr Agbotey urged party members and supporters to back his candidacy as he seeks to foster the development and unity of the NDC in Ketu South. Ketu South has been a significant stronghold for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), consistently delivering substantial votes since 1992.
