Accra: The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has launched a new monthly digital dialogue platform named 'CHRAJ and YOU' to make human rights, administrative justice, and anti-corruption issues more accessible to the public.
According to Ghana Web, the initiative will utilize Facebook Live and other digital platforms to host interactive sessions, allowing citizens to engage directly with CHRAJ officials on topics such as workplace unfairness, corruption reporting, complaint procedures, and constitutional rights.
Speaking in an interview, Comfort Akosua Edu, Head of CHRAJ's Corporate Affairs and Communications Unit, stated that the programme is part of the Commission's broader mission to promote a free and just society where human rights are respected and governance remains transparent and accountable. She emphasized that the platform signifies a significant shift in CHRAJ's public engagement strategy, offering citizens direct access to information, clarification, and dialogue on issues impacting their rights and access to justice.
Edu highlighted the necessity for institutions to adopt more interactive communication approaches due to the rise of digital media and growing demand for real-time information. She mentioned that citizens increasingly expect timely information and transparency in institutional operations, which a live interactive programme can provide in an engaging format. Edu, who originated and produces the 'CHRAJ and YOU' concept, credited CHRAJ Commissioner Joseph Whittal, who serves as Executive Producer of the programme.
She noted that despite CHRAJ's achievements through investigations, mediation, public education, and institutional reforms, many Ghanaians still have limited knowledge about the Commission's mandate and complaint procedures. The new initiative aims to bridge that gap by providing practical and accessible information while encouraging citizen participation.
The monthly programme will feature a talk-show format with moderated discussions, expert insights, and live audience participation. Planned topics include workplace rights and harassment, women's rights and gender equality, corruption and public accountability, administrative justice, and the rights of children, persons with disabilities, and older persons.
Edu explained that the programme will also offer guidance on lodging complaints, detail investigation timelines, address misconceptions about CHRAJ's jurisdiction, and highlight some of the Commission's interventions. She added that the initiative is expected to improve public awareness of CHRAJ's mandate, strengthen citizen engagement, reduce misconceptions, and enhance access to justice.
CHRAJ also plans to repurpose content from the programme into short videos, infographics, and frequently asked questions to reach younger audiences and underserved communities.
