Keta: The Chinese Enterprises Chamber in Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education in the Keta Municipality, pledging investment in the future of children as a shared responsibility that must transcend politics and institutional interests.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Wang Jinxiao, President of the Chamber, made the pledge in a solidarity message during an event organised by the Keta Education Fund to donate educational materials, including exercise books, stationery, and writing boards, to the Keta Municipal Education Directorate. Mr Wang emphasized that the Chamber's involvement goes beyond just the donation of items, signifying a collective investment in the education, dignity, and future of every child in Keta.
He recalled an earlier partnership among the Chamber, the Keta Education Fund, and Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited, which resulted in the supply of more than 1,000 mono desks to schools across the municipality. He described this initiative as evidence that coordinated action among government, traditional authorities, communities, and the private sector could deliver practical and measurable development outcomes.
Mr Wang highlighted the urgent educational challenges facing Keta, stressing that no child should lack basic learning materials or quality education due to the unavailability of essential resources. He underscored the importance of rising above political and institutional differences, noting that while governments may change, the responsibility to prepare the next generation must remain constant.
Mr Wang praised the Keta Education Fund for complementing the efforts of the Government, the Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service, and other stakeholders in addressing educational needs in the area. He announced that the Chamber is initiating discussions towards a broader partnership with the Keta Education Fund and other relevant stakeholders, with plans to explore opportunities in educational exchanges, technical and vocational training, and skills development.
He outlined that the envisaged partnership would also cover institutional collaboration, entrepreneurship, technology, investment facilitation, job creation, and improved health service delivery in the municipality. Mr Wang noted that the Chamber's objective extends beyond making donations, aiming to build capacity, strengthen institutions, create opportunities, and promote sustainable local development for the benefit of the people of Keta.
Expressing confidence in Keta's human and economic potential, Mr Wang stated that with unity of purpose, effective leadership, strategic partnerships, and sustained investment in people, this potential could be fully realised. He called for a collective effort beyond politics and institutional interests towards the development and prosperity of the people of Keta Municipality, wishing the Keta Education Fund and Ghana-China friendship and cooperation long life.
Madam Enyonam Adzo Apetorgbor, the Founder of Keta Education Fund, also welcomed the call for Ghana-China collaboration and encouraged other stakeholders, philanthropists, and individuals to embrace the move for the area's progress. Mr Wisdom Seade, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), also pledged support for the development of education in the municipality and beyond.
