Lagos: The law firm representing Afrobeats Star Davido's estranged lover Sophia Momodu in her ongoing child custody case has warned the Nigerian singer and his supporters, following a series of public outbursts on social media. According to Ghana Web, Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors condemned 'all manner of inflammatory public statements' directed at their partner, Ebelechukwu Enedah, arising from her professional conduct in the custody proceedings at a Lagos State court. The firm stressed that the matter is sub judice and 'will be decided by the court alone, on evidence and law,' warning that attempts to intimidate legal practitioners could undermine the rule of law. The firm emphasized the implications of threatening legal practitioners, stating, 'If legal practitioners are to be threatened, intimidated, or exposed to harassment outside the courtroom for asking questions, testing evidence, or discharging their professional duty to their clients, then the very foundation of justice is imperiled.' The warn ing follows a series of posts by Davido last Friday, who expressed frustration over what he described as 'insensitive remarks regarding his deceased son' during cross-examination in court. In a widely circulated Instagram post, he criticized Enedah, calling her 'the worst lawyer ever' and accusing her of being 'wicked' and 'unlearned.' The situation worsened when Davido mistakenly implicated gospel artiste, Tosin Bee, prompting harassment on the musician's social media pages. Tosin Bee clarified the situation immediately, stating it was a case of mistaken identity and expressing his prayers for Davido. The backlash against Enedah led her to set her social media account to private, limiting access to followers only. Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the integrity and safety of legal practitioners, calling on the Nigerian Bar Association and lawyers worldwide to condemn acts that could compromise judicial proceedings. The firm stated it would use all lawful measures to resist attempts to intimidate counsel or undermine judicial proceedings, warning that those engaging in such conduct would face legal consequences. PUNCH Online had reported that Davido confirmed on X that he would be withdrawing the custody case, clarifying that he never sought full custody. He expressed disappointment with the turn of events in court and mentioned his decision to drop the case due to references made to his deceased son, emphasizing his intention to move forward for the sake of his daughter. Previously, our correspondent reported that Davido filed an originating motion at the Lagos State High Court seeking joint custody of his daughter.
