Cape town: Nab Francis Akanbegme Asangalisa II, the Chief of the Chuchuliga Traditional Area, has expressed gratitude to the government for absorbing the Chuchuliga Community Day Senior High Technical School into mainstream education. The school was started by the community members and completed with the support of Mr James Agalga, the Member of Parliament for the area, and after several appeals to government from 2018, the school was finally absorbed.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nab Asangalisa highlighted at this year's Faagu festival, themed 'Promoting community development through active participation,' that the absorption marked a significant milestone for the community's educational development after several appeals over the years. 'I take this opportunity to reiterate my heartfelt appreciation to the government for absorbing the Chuchuliga Day Senior High Technical School as one of the public institutions to admit Junior High School graduates. This means the school will be in full stream to operate with students and teachers by the next academic year,' he stated during the festival.
The Faagu festival, originally a homecoming event, aims to bring together the sons and daughters of the area to renew relationships and identify development needs. Over the years, it has attracted people from within and outside the community to showcase their culture. Nab Asangalisa urged parents and guardians to enrol their children in the school, emphasizing that the school's success relies on community patronage.
He also appealed to the Builsa North District Assembly to improve infrastructure, including constructing the road to the school and extending electricity and toilet facilities to the new market site. Additionally, he highlighted the need to complete a stalled Police station project in Chuchuliga to enhance security.
Mr Thompson Ayaba, the Chairman of the Festival Planning Committee, reiterated the community's focus on development by announcing secured land for a community centre. He encouraged the youth to participate actively in the project, emphasizing unity and purpose.
Mr Solomon Ansoabyie Akogti, the Municipal Chief Executive, praised the community's self-help initiatives and assured the Municipal Assembly's continued support in their development goals, including the community centre project.
