2022 CHANQ: Black Galaxies have a better team to beat Nigeria in Abuja – Oluboi Commodore

Great Olympics General Manager, Olubio Commodore says the Black Galaxies have what it takes to beat Nigeria at their ground in the ongoing African Nations Championship [CHAN] qualifiers.

Ghana will be hosted at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in the return leg having recorded a 2-0 win in the first leg.

Kick-off is on Saturday, September 3 at 15:00GMT.

Speaking in an interview, Commodore is adamant Ghana’s first leg win is enough to get the Black Galaxies past Nigeria.

“Nigeria is a big football nation,” he told Citi Sports. If we can beat them here, it means that if we are not careful, they can also beat us there but we have a better tea.

“I am very confident that a 2-0 win for Ghana it’s a done deal for us,” he stated.

Annor Walker and the technical are bent on securing a place in the tournament that will be hosted in Algeria next year after Ghana have failed to play in the last three editions of the CHAN tournament.

Inaki Williams injury puts incredible appearances record in jeopardy

It was almost a perfect night for Athletic Club as they destroyed Cadiz 4-0 away from home on Monday evening, but Los Leones have received some bitter news on Tuesday afternoon.

Inaki Williams got their opening goal of the game but ended up being substituted after picking up a knock. Today they released the news that Williams has suffered a sprained ankle.

They did not provide a time of recovery for Williams nor any further details on how serious the sprain was. However it does suggest that Williams might miss some game time.

More pertinently for Williams personally, it puts his remarkable record of having appeared in 236 consecutive La Liga matches at risk. Athletic Club next take on Espanyol at home on Sunday, giving Williams just five days to recover in time.

Should he miss that match, it would bring the curtain down on one of the great modern runs of fitness and performance to maintain such consistency. It’s a run that has continued for the previous six years, back in 2016.

Ghana defender Baba Rahman returns to Reading on loan from Chelsea

Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman has returned to English Championship side Reading FC on loan from Chelsea.

The left-back extended his contract with Chelsea last year but was immediately loaned out to Reading for the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign.

Rahman went on to make 29 appearances for the Royals, as they finished 21st on the table to avoid being relegated to League One.

However, the 28-year-old has made a return to Reading for the rest of the season, the Premier League club have announced.

The defender is now entering his eighth year as a Chelsea player, having joined from Bundesliga outfit Augsburg in the summer of 2015.

Rahman has rarely featured for the Stamford Bridge outfit and has been farmed out on loan in each of his years with the club.

He was on a promising career path when he first joined Chelsea from Augsburg for a fee of £23 million.

However, after struggling for game time, Rahman was loaned out to Bundesliga side Schalke O4 for the 2016-17 season after the arrival of Antonio Conte.

A series of niggling injuries prevented him from playing consistently and he managed very few club matches on his return to Germany.

The former Dreams FC and Asante Kotoko defender is, however, back to full fitness, although it seems unlikely that he will have a future at Chelsea after his latest loan spell.

Health officials are ramping up polio vaccination efforts in the northern Ghana after a case was detected in the Savannah Region.

The virus has also been detected during surveillance in the Northern Region.

Implementation of Agenda 111 set to fail without human resource – Former Ridge Hospital boss

Mr. Thomas Anabah, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ridge Hospital in the Greater Accra region, has vowed the smooth implementation of the government’s Agenda 111 will come to nought because of the lack of human resources to man them.

The objective of the Agenda 111 project as envisioned by the President is to ensure that Ghanaians in every district and region have access to quality healthcare services.

The proposed project is to boost the provision of healthcare infrastructure in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health care for all citizens and attainment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3).

It will further fulfil the government’s policy of a hospital in each district and region, improve the geographical coverage of healthcare delivery in the country, and offer improved access to healthcare for all Ghanaians.

In the process, the outcome will also come with a model of accelerated construction of health facilities developed for future health projects.

The former CEO of Ridge Hospital also known as Greater Accra Regional Hospital painted this gloomy picture about the government’s much-talked about health project while speaking on the canker of ‘No-Bed-Syndrome’ that has hit most hospital facilities in the country.

The former CEO spoke on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Mr Emmanuel Quarshie (The Hitman) on Accra 100.5 FM on Monday, August 29, 2022.

“Do not get me wrong the Agenda 111 project is a laudable one,” he said, adding that the project needs to roll out progressively.

He explained that it would be difficult for many of these Agenda 111 hospitals to run if fully completed by the government.

He added that there is a massive shortage of human resources on the health front.

“Go to Tamale Teaching Hospital, Legon Teaching, Wa Teaching, and Bolgatanga among other hospitals are understaffed,” he said.

He stressed that there are no people to man these hospitals across the country.

“So where will the people come from to man Agenda 111 projects?” he asked.

“There is no human resource to man the existing hospitals in the country,” he added.
