Social media trolls can be damaging to an artiste’s career-Abiana

Accra, Sept. 5, GNA – Sensational Ghanaian female vocalist Naa Abiana Dickson, known by her stage name “Abiana”, says social media trolls can have a detrimental effect on an artiste’s career.

According to the songstress, she faced instances of trolling and cyberbullying when she won the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Female Vocalist of the Year award.

”When you are a new artiste in the industry, it is very difficult for people to accept you. When I won the VGMA award, there were numerous comments on social media with people saying I didn’t deserve it, among other unpleasant comments.

”There were all forms of personal attack which I think should not be encouraged in the music space. Artistes can be constructively criticised if they fall short of living up to their billing, but instances of trolling should not be encouraged, “she said.

Abiana further opined that trolls could have an adverse effect on an artiste’s career, especially when they don’t have the mental resilience to deal with instances of trolling.

”Let’s limit the trolls to our talented musicians who are making Ghana proud and churning out good music,” she said.

The 2022 VGMA Songwriter of the Year nominee is currently promoting her “Shika” video, which was released on Sunday, September 4, 2022.

Empress Gifty wows ‘Ashaiman to the World’ Concert with sexy body contours

Stonebwoy’s ‘Ashaiman to the World’ concert has come and gone over the weekend with a lot of side attractions that music lovers can’t stop talking.

One of those is how popular gospel star Empress Gifty flaunted her curves on stage in a tight-fitting dress while she performed.

A video of her in circulation captured her performing in a white t-shirt to match with her black and white three-quarter leggings that captured her body and revealed the curves.

The video attracted diverse opinions on social media, with some defending her while others criticised her.

Some Ghanaians who are worried about her outfit alleged that her costume was not any different from those of secular musicians.

“Empress Gifty is slowly and gradually losing the real gospel aspect of her music. Many love her because of the way she carried herself in gospel music both on stage and in videos, but now she is just getting carried away with the people she is surrounding herself with now, especially after she got married. Am not here to judge or condemn her but many are looking up to her in a very positive way than what she has started exhibiting now. Yes, the fans are there to cheer to the music but your outfits must reflect what you say or act,” social media user, Dennis Nii Anum wrote.

“She needs a counsellor before things get out of hand. Many gospel musicians struggle to make amends with their music and lifestyles, which has affected them negatively, and they regret such decisions. Gifty, I love your music, but please check your utterances and dressings. Thank you,” Dennis added.

Alhassan Dambol also wrote, “Nowadays it’s difficult distinguishing between slay queens and gospel artistes.”

“Do we have gospel music in this country, apuu? All of them are in for their gains but using God’s name to deceive the weak brains. Listen to any music you want and stop deceiving yourself all the time. I will rather listen to Wendy Shay, Sister Afia, Ebony and Co music. These guys are not Mark Abraham and Co oo,” Rashid RM also commented.

Empress Gifty was recently in the news asking Ghanaians to let her be, stressing that she is an adult and knows what she wants for herself and whatever she does with her body.
