Run for president, we the youth will vote for you – Michael Blankson told after commissioning free school for Agona Nsabaa

Michael Blankson, a Ghanaian international comedian, has been urged to form a political party to become Ghana’s next President.

Some youths of the country believe the comedian, being an international figure, understands and knows how to tackle issues with his understanding of governance in the US.

A certain netizen is urging him to form a political party or run as an independent candidate in Ghana’s next general election (2024).

“Bro! Freaking start a political party or stand independent for next year’s election and can bet you can easily win cause the youth in Ghana want a young leader who understands what’s happening around the world and can help empower us to achieve our goals and you seem to be that guy. Just try and see. You would be surprised. We’d seriously vote for you. Hope this finds you,” a netizen wrote in the comedian’s DM on Twitter.

This comes after the Hollywood star extended his charitable deeds to his community in the Central Region, Agona Nsabaa, by constructing a basic school that will be free to all.

However, in response, Michael Blankson, who in 2022 revealed his desire to become Ghana’s president one day and fix the country, appreciated the advice but rejected it.

According to him, though he is from Ghana, he is still not familiar with the issues in different parts of the country and what each has or not, so it would be a bad decision to jump on the idea.

“Ghana I appreciate this but not right now, I don’t even know all the 16 regions in Ghana lol,” he wrote.

Coming into the music industry was a mystery, nobody saw me coming – Wendy Shay

Wendy Shay, a Ghanaian singer, has spoken about how she jumped into the Ghanaian music scene.

She stated that her arrival was so unexpected that no one recognised her as a rising artist.

The Ruff Town Record signee admitted that her fame came as a result of her boss, Bullet, the former manager of the late Ebony Reigns.

“Coming into the music industry was a mystery. Nobody saw me coming and then I just came.

“I came up with the first song ‘Uber Driver’. Bullet just introduced me on the VGMA big stage and in the next month I was everywhere. I have been like that, that is my personality and it’s hard to figure me out. Even myself, I have always been finding new things about myself which is very intriguing and amazing”, Wendy Shay said in an interview on Accra-based Bryt TV.

The Enigma EP maker explained the reason behind the title of her latest Extended Playlist, which she said was because she is now tough to be understood.

“My personality has grown. People cannot understand me, that is why I call myself an enigma because an enigma is something it is hard to understand,” she stressed.

Wendy swiftly gained the limelight following her official unveiling at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) and also her first viral single “Uber Driver.”

Gifty Ohene Konadu is the right person to replace Alan Kyeremanten as trade minister – Kofi Akpaloo

Founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Percival Kofi Akpaloo has said Gifty Ohene Konadu is the right person to take over from Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten as the Trade Minister.

According to him, Gifty Ohene Konadu has done a massive job as the National Coordinator for the One District One Factory policy.

For this reason, he is asking President Akufo-Addo to consider her hard work and reward her with a Ministerial appointment.

Kofi Akpaloo said the One District One Factory policy under Gifty Ohene Konadu has created over 156,000 direct and indirect jobs for Ghanaians in the country since its inception in 2017.

According to him, the 1D1F initiative has addressed the problem of unemployment in Ghana — the reason why he is calling on President Akufo-Addo to appoint Gifty Ohene Konadu to replace Alan Kyeremanten as the Tade Minister.

“Gifty Ohene Konadu has done a lot of work at the one District One Factory secretariat, she is the right person to continue from where Mr Kyeremanten left off because she understands the system already so President Akufo-Addo should give her the nod,” Kofi Akpaloo exclusively told Accra-based Original FM.

Gifty Ohene Konadu was a Deputy Minister of Trade under erstwhile John Agyekum Kufour’s administration.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has resigned from his position.

He tendered his resignation letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Zinedine Zidane: FFF president Noel le Graet sorry for ‘clumsy’ comments

French football federation president Noel le Graet has apologised for “clumsy remarks” he made about Zinedine Zidane’s potential interest in coaching the national team.

In an interview with French radio, 81-year-old Le Graet said he “wouldn’t even have taken his call” if Zidane had been in touch.

Le Graet said on Monday the comments “do not reflect” his views.

France boss Didier Deschamps signed a new contract until 2026 on Saturday.

“I would like to apologise for these remarks, which absolutely do not reflect my views nor my consideration for the player he was and the coach he has become,” Le Graet said.

“I gave an interview to [French radio station] RMC that I should not have given because they were looking for controversy by opposing Didier and Zinedine Zidane, two greats of French football.

“I admit that I made some clumsy remarks which created a misunderstanding.”

Zidane won the 1998 World Cup as a player alongside Deschamps and two La Liga titles and three consecutive Champions League titles as Real Madrid manager before his departure last year.

France and Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe described Le Graet’s comments as “disrespectful”.

France’s Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera demanded an apology from Le Graet for “a shameful lack of respect”.

Real released a statement calling for an “immediate rectification” following Le Graet’s “inappropriate” comments.

Deschamps guided France to a second successive World Cup final in December, when they lost to Argentina on penalties.

Asked whether Zidane called him about the France head coach’s job, Le Graet said: “I wouldn’t even have taken his call. To tell him what? ‘Hello sir. Don’t worry. Look for another club. I just agreed a contract with Didier.’

“It’s up to him what he does. It’s not my business. I’ve never met him and we’ve never considered parting with Didier.

“He can go where he wants, to a club. He would have as many as he wants in Europe, a big club. But a national side is hardly credible, to my mind.”
