Seoul: K-pop icons BTS have unveiled a massive 79-date world tour, marking their return to the international stage after a four-year hiatus. With performances scheduled in cities such as London, Tokyo, Munich, Sydney, and Los Angeles, this tour is poised to be one of the most significant of the year. The band has not performed outside the US and South Korea since 2018.
According to Ghana Web, BTS and their record label BigHit / Hybe are projected to earn over $1 billion from this reunion tour, encompassing concert revenue, merchandise, licensing, album sales, and streaming. During the band’s break in 2024, Hybe experienced a 37.5% drop in operating profit, partly attributing this to BTS’s temporary absence.
The new tour will commence with three nights at South Korea’s Goyang Stadium on 9 April, 2026, before moving across Asia, Europe, and America. The band will perform on a 360-degree, in-the-round stage, maximizing seating capacity at each venue. The European leg includes stops in cities like Paris, Madrid, Brussels, and Munich, with two nights in London on 6 and 7 July, 2026. Additional dates for Japan, the Middle East, and other regions are anticipated for 2027.
Tickets will be accessible to fans starting 22 January, with general public sales following two days later. The band’s comeback has been eagerly awaited, especially after rapper and songwriter Suga completed his mandatory military service in June, the last member to do so.
Formed in the early 2010s, BTS helped bring K-pop into the Western mainstream through their distinctive blend of dance-pop, hip-hop, and introspective lyrics. Their hiatus did not diminish fan enthusiasm, as evidenced by the seven million viewers who tuned in to a live broadcast on Weverse announcing their comeback plans.
This tour presents a rare opportunity for many fans to see BTS live for the first time in seven years. During this period, the group achieved their first US number one single with “Dynamite” and collaborated with Coldplay on “My Universe.” Although a 2020 world tour was canceled due to the pandemic, solo projects kept fans engaged during the band’s hiatus.
The upcoming album, recorded in Los Angeles over six months, is set for release on 26 March, 2026. BTS leader RM shared updates on the album’s progress, emphasizing the band’s commitment to their craft. J-Hope hinted that their solo experiences would influence their new music, promising a “massive energy” in the upcoming release.
BTS expressed their gratitude to their fans, known as ARMY, through handwritten letters delivered before the album announcement. The notes conveyed excitement and appreciation for the fans’ unwavering support. With the tour and album on the horizon, BTS is set to create new memories with their global fanbase in 2026.
