Bosome freho: The Bosome Freho District Assembly has intensified investment in educational infrastructure with the construction of a modern two-unit kindergarten block at Mafi D/A Basic School to improve teaching and learning conditions.
According to Ghana News Agency, the facility, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), was commissioned by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Charles Appiah-Kubi, at a ceremony at Mafi. The two-unit block comprises two classrooms, an office, a store, and child-friendly washrooms, providing a safer and more conducive environment for early childhood education.
Mr. Appiah-Kubi stated that the project was part of efforts by the Assembly to address infrastructure deficits in schools across the district and ensure that children in deprived communities had access to quality educational facilities. He noted that pupils at Mafi previously studied under overcrowded and dilapidated conditions, affecting effective teaching and learning. The provision of the facility demonstrated the commitment of the government and the Assembly to eliminate schools under trees and improve access to quality education irrespective of location.
The DCE disclosed that the Assembly had, in 2026, constructed six-unit classroom blocks at Tebeso II and Damascus, as well as a three-unit classroom block at Fereso, in addition to supporting the District Education Directorate. He urged the Ghana Education Service (GES), teachers, School Management Committee (SMC), Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the community to take ownership of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance.
Mr. Anin Bruce, District Director of Education, expressed appreciation to the government and the Assembly for investing in educational infrastructure but cautioned that the sustainability of such investments depended on a strong maintenance culture. He appealed to school authorities, teachers, parents, and community members to protect and maintain the facility to prolong its lifespan. Mr. Bruce also highlighted a shortage of teachers in the district, particularly in the Nsuta Circuit, and appealed for support towards a scholarship initiative for needy but brilliant students.
On behalf of the Kokofu Traditional Council, Nana Kwadwo Atefuah, representing the Omanhene of the Council, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for its development interventions in the area and pledged the Traditional Council's continued support for the efforts to promote development.
