A social media user known as 'WebkidAfrika', identified in court documents as Abdul Gafaru Sadi, has been brought before the court over allegations related to the publication of false news and offensive conduct targeting the musician Stonebwoy and his family.
According to Ghana Web, the accused, a salesman and social media blogger residing in Community 1 Site 2, Tema, allegedly used his X account to disseminate content described by authorities as false, misleading, and potentially inciting fear and panic. The offence reportedly occurred in Accra around 11 November 2024, when the accused allegedly sent an online communication endangering the safety of Stonebwoy and his family.
The charges fall under Section 76 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), which addresses the publication of false news. Prosecutors argue that the post is part of broader online activity crossing legal boundaries, involving claims and statements considered unt rue and harmful.
In addition to the false news charge, WebkidAfrika faces charges of offensive conduct conducive to a breach of peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Court documents describe Stonebwoy as residing in Adiringanor, Accra, while detailing the accused's alleged participation in a series of online posts targeting the musician and his family.
The situation reportedly escalated after Stonebwoy noticed in August 2025 that several videos were deleted from his YouTube channel. Subsequent checks allegedly traced the issue to his former social media administrator, Casey Kobia. A petition was filed with the Director-General of the CID, leading to a Cybercrime Unit investigation.
Investigators claim that during the probe, it emerged Casey Kobia allegedly hired multiple bloggers, including WebkidAfrika, to publish images of Stonebwoy's family with derogatory captions. Posts cited in court documents include statements like 'M arried this thing but had the nerve to call Shatta Wale's wife prostitute,' 'Stonebwoy you are mad,' and 'Daddy once took advantage of Abena Korkor!!! Stonebwoy is evil.'
Authorities allege these posts triggered additional users to join, creating a wave of offensive commentary against the musician and his family. Prosecutors contend that the coordinated publications created tension and amounted to conduct likely to disturb public peace.
WebkidAfrika was arrested on 7 May 2026 as part of ongoing investigations, with security officials continuing efforts to identify and apprehend other individuals possibly linked to the alleged online campaign.
