Blekusu: Mr Raphael Nukamewor, the Assembly Member for the Blekusu Electoral Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has supported 60 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates and invigilators with hot meals at the Adina Examination Centre. According to him, the intervention was to help prepare the candidates adequately for the ongoing examination to yield better and positive results.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nukamewor, in an interview at the Adina Examination Centre, said the beneficiaries participating in the BECE at the centre were from three different schools in the electoral area. "I am extending the support to the schools under my jurisdiction which are Blekusu Mina Basic School, Blekusu R.C. Basic School, and Volta Gospel Preparatory School," he said.
Mr Nukamewor highlighted that inadequate food vendors at the examination centre prompted the initiative to prevent any negative effect it could have on the candidates who might not be able to feed before the examination. He explained that proper feeding would enable the pupils to concentrate and write their papers with a sound mind, improving their memory retention for successful results.
"It is my wish to continue to provide hot meals daily to the candidates and the invigilators until the end of the exams, my challenge is money, and I am calling on all well-meaning citizens of the area to help so that we can accomplish this task together for the success of our future leaders," Mr Nukamewor said. He appealed to the general public and philanthropists to assist in the initiative to ensure the candidates were fed well daily.
He also commended other individuals and philanthropists, including Togbe Tenuvi ll, who had supported the candidates within the municipality with learning materials such as mathematical sets, among others, to equip the candidates for the examination. Mr Nukamewor encouraged the candidates to study diligently and avoid examination malpractices to prevent punishments that could include cancellation of the papers.
Philemon Atsu, a candidate, along with other invigilators who spoke to the GNA, expressed gratitude to the Assembly Member for the gesture, describing the move as timely and motivating. They pledged to work hard to pass their examination and uplift the standard of education in the area.
