Black Sherif Desires ‘Album of the Year’ Win at TGMAs

Accra: Award-winning Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has revealed that amongst his nine nominations at this year's Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), the one award he desperately wants to win is Album of the Year for his project, 'Iron Boy'. Speaking on the Onua Showtime, Blacko explained that the project took him three years of planning, sacrifice, patience, and hard work to complete.

According to Ghana Web, the process behind the album changed his entire mindset and taught him valuable life lessons he never imagined he needed. Black Sherif shared that 'Iron Boy' is the project that demanded the most from him in his career. He began working on it in 2022, just a month after his debut album was released, and mentioned that some of the videos for the album were shot a year before the songs were officially out.

Black Sherif disclosed that work on the album officially began in 2022, a month after the release of his debut album. He explained that even before 'Iron Boy' dropped, he was already heavily involved in activations and preparations leading to the release. The musician added that immediately after the album was released, he embarked on a major tour run, beginning the very night the project dropped, touring Europe and America.

He elaborated on the tour, stating that activations for 'Iron Boy' started in late January 2025 in South Africa, followed by Tanzania in February, and then London and the USA in March. The album was released the next month, after which he went on tour. Black Sherif expressed that the success of the album has brought him joy and reinforced his belief in patience and proper planning, acknowledging the overwhelming nature of the journey but remaining grateful to God for guidance.

Black Sherif further stated that winning Album of the Year would mean a lot to him because it would serve as proof that every sacrifice, sleepless night, and moment of patience invested into 'Iron Boy' was worth it and truly appreciated.
