Lusaka: Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, founder of the Healing Jesus Campaign, along with his wife, Episcopal Sister Adelaide Heward-Mills, paid a courtesy call on Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at State House in Lusaka. The meeting, broadcast live on the President's official Facebook page, underscored the spiritual and bilateral connections between Ghana and Zambia.
According to Ghana News Agency, the courtesy call followed a three-day Healing Jesus Crusade held at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka from April 21-23, 2026. President Hichilema expressed gratitude to Evangelist Heward-Mills for selecting Zambia for the outreach, attributing the country's achievements to divine favor. He also praised Bishop Heward-Mills for his humanitarian efforts and acknowledged the collaborative role of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and the Council of Churches in Zambia in organizing the crusade.
Bishop Heward-Mills commended President Hichilema for his openness and respect towards the Church, suggesting that divine honor would follow such an accommodative nature. He expressed admiration for Zambia's visible transformation and offered prayers for the President and the nation. Bishop Heward-Mills recalled conducting crusades in various Zambian towns and cities, including Livingstone, Chingola, Kitwe, Ndola, Chililabombwe, Kabwe, and Mufulira, noting the lasting impact of previous visits in 2017 through Gospel outreaches.
President Hichilema acknowledged greetings from Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama, who recently visited Zambia on a state visit. He mentioned President Mahama's traditional Ghanaian fugu attire during the visit, which sparked discussions on cultural exchange on social media platforms.
The statement indicated that Bishop Heward-Mills' visit reinforced bilateral relations by building on shared values, faith, and cultural appreciation between the two nations. It also highlighted that the Lusaka crusade, part of the Healing Jesus Campaign, attracted tens of thousands of attendees each night, resulting in numerous conversions and healings in line with the campaign's focus on salvation, deliverance, and the healing power of Jesus.
It further noted that the courtesy call and the preceding crusade generated significant attention, viewed as a means of enhancing faith-driven national development and fostering friendship between Ghana and Zambia.
