Accra: Founder of Heaven's Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, better known as Kumchacha, has asserted that attending a Bible or pastoral school is not a determining factor for being genuinely called by God.
According to Ghana Web, the outspoken preacher shared insights into his spiritual journey during an interview on Atuu with Nana Romeo. Kumchacha recounted his early experiences, explaining, "My type of ministry is prophecy. When I was young, I used to play at the Presby mission house and all the priests there kept saying that God would use me to work. Then God called me." With over 35 years in ministry and 25 years of preaching on the radio, Kumchacha emphasized his personal experience as a testament to his claim.
On the topic of theological education, Kumchacha acknowledged the benefits of attending a Bible or pastoral school but insisted it is not essential for receiving God's calling. "I never went to any pastoral or Bible school. Going to a pastoral school is not bad, but when God calls you, it doesn't matter whether you went or not," he stated.
He further elaborated that Bible schools primarily teach aspiring ministers how to conduct themselves as clergymen, but they do not determine a person's divine calling. He noted that some individuals who have never attended Bible school have been genuinely called by God, while others who have attended multiple schools have not experienced such a calling. "There are people who have never been to one and have been called by God. There are also people who have been to dozens of Bible schools and have not been called," he said.
