Benkum Old Students Association Reflects on Progress at 2026 AGM

Winneba: The Benkum Old Students Association (BOSA) has convened its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to assess the progress of the association, evaluate its activities, and chart a course for the continued growth of both BOSA and Benkum Senior High School in the Eastern Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the event, themed 'Unity, Accountability and Legacy: Building the Future of Benkum Together,' focused on the association's activities for the 2024/2025 period. In an interview at Winneba, ACP Dr Samuel Asiedu Okanta, President of BOSA, emphasized the collective commitment of members to support their alma mater, stating that this dedication keeps the association vibrant and relevant.

The AGM served as an opportunity to honor members who have consistently supported the association and contributed to the development and image of Benkum SHS. Notable honorees included Mr Osikani Thomas Yeboa Wadie for his financial and other support, and ACP Dr Asiedu Okanta for his leadership and commitment to BOSA's transformation. Dr George Addo Larbi, BOSA Executive Council Chairman, and Prof George Kankam, Chairman of the BOSA Peace and Reconciliation Committee, were also recognized for their contributions.

Additionally, Dr Joel Sonne was honored for being the first BOSA Global President and his contributions to the association's development. Other awardees included Mr Ebenezer Odoi, Mr Affum Gyimah, Dr Odame Larbi, and several others for their contributions towards the transformation of BOSA. All BOSA year groups received certificates of appreciation for their support and contributions to the association and the school.

ACP Dr Okanta, whose tenure concludes in May, expressed that the recognition of these individuals celebrates the enduring Benkum spirit of service and solidarity. New executives were elected at the AGM, with Prof Daniel Ankrah as President, Mr Frederick Safo Appiah as Vice President, Ms Victoria Cornelia Quaynor as Secretary, and Ms Ernestina Oye Fianko as Treasurer. The newly elected executives will assume office in May 2026 for a four-year term.

In his acceptance speech, Prof Ankrah assured members of an open-door leadership style to advance the association. Dr Joel Sonne, the immediate past President of BOSA, encouraged members to build on the foundation laid to support the school through mentorship, networking, and new projects.
