Sissala east: Candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Sissala East Municipality have described the early morning showers as a sign of good omen and a glimmer of hope for them in the examination. Ambra Danyila, a candidate from the Tumu JHS, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that rain is a sign of good luck and a sign of hope for the candidates, as it would save them from the intense heat of the past days.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Adamu Yakubu, the Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), met the candidates at the Kanton Senior High Centres 'A' and 'B' to wish them good luck and motivate them by saying, "See these exams as a normal classroom test and don't panic." He urged them to give their best to make the Municipality proud and announced that the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area had initiated a program to feed the students and invigilators throughout the exams.
Mr. Charles Lewil Charles, the Sissala East Municipal Director of Education, advised the candidates to take the exams seriously, emphasizing the importance of this period in their lives. He encouraged them to relax, be disciplined, and carefully read all instructions before answering questions. He also warned candidates and invigilators against exam malpractice, noting that it is a crime and that offenders would face the full rigors of the law.
Mr. Cornelius Langyintuo, the Sissala East Exams Officer, reported that a total of 1,443 students are taking the exams in the Municipality, with 843 girls and 600 boys participating across three centers and 63 schools. At Kanton Senior High A, Mr. Bating Dimah Yusif, the supervisor, stated that 508 candidates from 20 communities were writing in that center without any issues reported so far.
Madam Sophai Mulika, supervisor for Kanton Senior High 'B', mentioned that 455 candidates from 24 schools were sitting for the exams at her center. Additionally, at the Tumu Senior Technical School, Madam Dorcas Danonu, the supervisor, indicated that 484 candidates, comprising 217 females and 266 males, were expected to write the exams at that location.
