Abuakwa: Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, has pledged to unite and work with all other contestants in the race if elected as the flagbearer of the party. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts to strengthen the party's ranks and win the confidence of the masses ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Bawumia made this commitment while addressing delegates in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency at Abuakwa, during his final campaign tour of the Ashanti Region before the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026. He highlighted his confidence in winning the primaries but remained cautious in his statements about his counterparts, stressing the importance of maintaining a positive tone to avoid providing ammunition to rival political parties.
Dr Bawumia urged delegates to elect him to ensure a strong victory for the NPP in the upcoming 2028 elections. Meanwhile, Mr Stephen Boateng, the Constituency Chairperson, assured that he and other executives are committed to serving the party selflessly to help regain power in the next elections. He revealed that approximately 1,000 delegates from the constituency, including polling station and constituency executives, council of elders, and electoral area coordinators, are expected to participate in the primary voting.
Mr Boateng also called for peace, unity, and understanding among party members before, during, and after the primaries to foster a conducive environment for party success.
