Banky W Ordained as Pastor in the US

Accra:Nigerian singer Olubankole 'Banky W' Wellington has announced his ordination as a pastor in the United States, two years after relocating there with his family.

According to Ghana Web, the 45-year-old revealed his new role as an Associate Pastor and Global Ambassador at Union Church, a non-denominational Christian church with multiple campuses across the US, in a statement on his Instagram page. Banky W also serves as a teacher and leader at Union College, working under the leadership of Pastors Stephen and Zai Chandler.

Banky W reflected on his journey, recalling how he once joked about whether the 'P' in his nickname, P.Banks, stood for professor or pastor. He shared that he realized God was expanding his assignment to encompass his roles as a filmmaker, musician, entrepreneur, pastor, and professor.

He expressed gratitude for the positive influence of the Chandlers on his personal and spiritual growth. Despite the challenges of balancing travel between Lagos and the US, Banky W finds fulfillment in his new roles.

Following his defeat in the 2023 elections, where he contested for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in Nigeria's House of Representatives, Banky W found himself turning to God for guidance. The election loss left him emotionally shattered, prompting him to seek divine direction on whether to pursue politics, ministry, entertainment, or business.

Reflecting on his first year as a pastor, he emphasized that what seems like an ending can be a new beginning ordained by God. Despite the setback in his political career, Banky W trusts in a greater divine purpose for his life, one that continues to unfold across various fields, including business, film, and music. He concluded by marking his first anniversary at Union Church and expressing optimism for the journey ahead.
