Atwima mponua: Mr. Seth Osei Akoto, Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti region, has taken a significant step towards enhancing security in his constituency by initiating the construction of two police stations. This development is aimed at improving law enforcement and community safety in the Kotokuom and Bayerebon No. five communities and their surrounding areas.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Akoto emphasized the necessity of upgraded security infrastructure during the sod-cutting ceremony at Kotokuom. He remarked on the importance of a secure environment as a foundation for sustainable development, stating, "A secure environment is essential for growth, investment, and peace of mind." The construction of these police stations is being funded through Mr. Akoto's share of the MPs Common Fund and is slated for completion within eight months.
The MP outlined several anticipated benefits of this initiative, including more visible law enforcement, quicker emergency response times, improved collaboration between security agencies and rural communities, and increased local employment. He underscored the importance of promises followed by action, highlighting this project as a step towards a safer and more secure future for the area. Mr. Akoto also urged the contractors to involve unemployed youth in the construction process to support and improve their livelihoods.
Nana Kofi Agyemang I, Kotokuom Odikro, praised the MP for fulfilling his campaign promise, noting that the project would ensure a safer and more resilient environment for residents to live and work peacefully.
