Accra: The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Atta Issah, has revealed that the government intentionally postponed the rollout of its 24-Hour Economy policy to avoid politicisation and allow for comprehensive stakeholder consultations to properly shape the initiative before implementation. Speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, the MP, who serves on Parliament's Trade, Industry and Tourism Committee as well as the Finance Committee, said the government was deliberate in taking its time to refine the policy.
According to Ghana Web, the consultations were conducted nationwide to ensure the policy reflects the unique economic strengths of the various regions. Atta Issah noted that the 24-Hour Economy policy will be implemented through region-specific interventions designed to harness local opportunities and boost productivity. For instance, Upper West will be focusing on groundnut processing under the millet corridor, while North East will benefit from the Integrated Rice Corridor.
Atta Issah further expressed optimism about the policy, describing it as a long-term economic framework that will create jobs and significantly transform Ghana's economic landscape. He emphasised that the 24-Hour Economy is here to stay and will play a crucial role in transforming the country's economic framework.
