Asiedu Nketiah Keeps Political Ambitions Open for Future Presidential Bid

Accra: National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has refused to rule out contesting for the flagbearership position of his party and, thus, the presidency in the future.

According to Ghana Web, Asiedu Nketiah stated that he would make his intentions known when the time was right, insisting that all political options remained open to him. The NDC National Chairman emphasized that ambition is an essential part of politics and suggested that politicians without ambition may be in the wrong profession. He made these remarks during an appearance on JoyNews' PM Express.

Asiedu Nketiah, however, declined to confirm whether he intends to seek the NDC's presidential nomination. He expressed that political ambitions could not remain hidden forever, comparing the situation to pregnancy, questioning how one could campaign if they hid their intention to contest for a position.

When asked if he personally aspired to become President, the NDC Chairman said the time had not yet come to make such a declaration. He noted that when his time was up, he would clearly declare his intentions.

Asiedu Nketiah also mentioned various positions he could potentially pursue within the NDC, such as returning as General Secretary, remaining National Chairman, becoming National Organiser, returning to Parliament, or contesting the presidency. He pointed out that no law bars him from pursuing these options and that keeping people guessing about his ambitions was part of the political game.

He was emphatic that he has never ruled out any position in his life and is not doing so now, leaving the door open for all political possibilities.
