Accra: The Apostolic Church-Ghana has instituted a ban on the practice of kissing the bride before the altar during wedding ceremonies. This decision, aimed at maintaining doctrinal standards and reverence, was approved by the church's Council of Apostles and Prophets.
According to Ghana Web, the policy was adopted by delegates at the 6th General Council Meeting held on March 28, 2026, at the TAC Conference Centre in Accra. Church authorities have emphasized that the new directive is designed to uphold the solemnity of marriage rites conducted before the altar.
The policy will be applicable across all assemblies of The Apostolic Church-Ghana and will serve as a guideline for officiating ministers during wedding ceremonies. This development represents a notable change in the traditional wedding practices within the church, and members are expected to adhere to the new directive.
