Kumasi: Apostle Gabriel Oppong, father of the late Sally Benson, a 33-year-old Kumasi-based beautician who was allegedly beaten to death by her businessman boyfriend, has called on authorities to ensure justice for his daughter.
According to Ghana Web, Apostle Oppong expressed his desire for authorities to expedite the judicial process in securing justice for the brutal death of his daughter. In a heartfelt interview on Esra TV, which has been disseminated on social media, the Apostle shared that he resides in Accra while Sally lived alone in Kumasi. He recounted that she had recently visited him, less than a week prior to the tragic incident.
Sally Benson was an enterprising individual, owning a pub and an African restaurant, and was striving to establish herself in the business world. Apostle Oppong mentioned that although he had heard about the suspect, he had never met him personally. He emphasized the urgency in fast-tracking the legal process to attain the justice the family seeks.
In related developments, Francis Arthur, a 48-year-old businessman, was apprehended in connection with Sally Benson's death. The incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at Ayigya-Maxima, leaving the community and Benson's loved ones in shock. Police accounts detailed that Sally had visited Arthur's residence with a friend after hearing that another woman was present there. Arthur was not home at their arrival but returned later, leading to a confrontation that allegedly resulted in the fatal assault.
Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare reported that Sally collapsed during the altercation, after which Arthur allegedly drove her in her own car to KNUST Hospital. She was pronounced dead upon arrival. Following his arrest, Arthur was presented before Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter at the Asokore Mampong District Court and was remanded into custody, with a court appearance scheduled for May 8, 2026.
The incident has left Sally Benson's family, as well as the community, in mourning. Sally was known for her businesses, Sally's Cosmetics Studio and African's Special Pub, located in the Asokwa area.
