Accra: Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr Dickson Adomako-Kissi, has cautioned against the growing practice of quickly labelling politicians being investigated by the state as corrupt before investigations and legal processes are completed. Speaking on Channel One TV on August 4, 2026, he explained that such accusations can negatively affect the reputations of politicians and ultimately reduce the goodwill they enjoy among the public.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Adomako-Kissi emphasized the importance of careful examination of audit findings and allegations of financial wrongdoing, noting that reported irregularities may not always translate into an actual loss of state funds. He shared his insights from his experience with the Public Accounts Committee, where initial reports of large financial discrepancies were sometimes resolved upon further investigation, often due to incomplete documentation rather than actual financial loss.
Dr Adomako-Kissi also urged politicians and public officials to exercise caution when making allegations against their opponents, highlighting that anyone could find themselves in a similar predicament in the future. His comments come in the wake of an Accra High Court decision to grant the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) the authority to freeze five bank accounts and four properties belonging to Dennis Edward Aboagye, also known as Miracles. This action is part of EOCO's investigations into alleged misappropriation of approximately GHS55 million at the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), with suspicions of fraud, theft, and procurement-related irregularities during Aboagye's tenure.
