Accra: Ghanaian rapper Amerado has addressed recent claims that suggest he has shifted from rap to singing. Speaking on United Showbiz, Amerado clarified that he has not abandoned rap but is exploring various genres of music, leveraging his talent in multiple areas.
According to Ghana Web, Amerado emphasized that his career in rap has been instrumental in opening numerous opportunities, allowing him to connect with industry giants like Okyeame Kwame and other influential figures. He highlighted that singing has also provided financial benefits, enabling him to start building a house for his mother. He stated, “I started off as a rapper, and through rap, I’ve met people like Okyeame Kwame and other prominent people that I usually wouldn’t have been able to meet as a young person. Through singing too, I’ve made money that I’m currently using to build for my mum. But I haven’t switched.”
Amerado further asserted that he should not be excluded from rap award categories due to his exploration of other musical genres. He expressed his desire to be recognized as a versatile artiste capable of excelling in rap, highlife, reggae, and other styles of music. He remarked, “I am a singer, rapper, and reggae artiste, and I should be described as such.”
The rapper also expressed that being excluded from rap award categories feels punitive, as he has demonstrated his capabilities in both rap and singing. He believes his versatility should be acknowledged rather than criticized.
