AMA Boss urges residents to be involved in developing the metropolis

Accra, March 6, GNA – Madam Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive has appealed to the residents to be more involved in the development of the metropolis.

“Thus, I am calling on all to get involve in adopting the principle and spirit of the Relay Race and Contest in which concerted effort, consistency and commitment of all actors to the achievement of set goals and objectives of service delivery to the people should be our utmost priority and haul mark,” she stated.

Madam Sackey made the appeal when she addressed the 65th Anniversary celebration parade on the theme: “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better” at the forecourt of the Assembly in Accra on Sunday.

The parade was attended by 22 public and private basic and senior high schools in Accra.

Among them were St. Mary’s SHS, Accra Academy, Accra Wesley Girls’ School, Josephus Memorial School, John Wesley Methodist Basic School, Ayalolo Junior JHS, Hijaz Islamic Basic School, and Nii Kojo Babio Basic School.

Others were the Ministry of Health Basic School, Bishop Mixed JHS, Cable and Wireless Basic School, Happy Day Academy, Sacred Heart Technical Centre and Holy Trinity Cathedral Senior High School.

Madam Sackey saluted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the theme, which she said was directly in line with her 2022 New Year Message to the staff of the Assembly and the decentralised departments and agencies.

“In that address, I said the 2022 and beyond should be seen as a Relay Race and Contest for each one of us working for the city of Accra and Mother Ghana.

“Madam Sackey said Ghana has advanced in age and needed dedication, commitment, sacrifices and contributions of all and that positive partnership, participation, patriotism and collaboration in policy planning, formulation and implementation were vital for the “… bouncing back better.”

She urged the citizenry to adopt the concept of the relay race in their daily lives towards serving the country through commitment to the formulation and implementation of prudent policies, punctuality to work, mobilisation of resources, judicious management of resources and protection and maintenance of public properties.

The Chief Executive expressed gratitude to all institutions and individuals who contributed to the organisation of the programme.

In the parade march, Accra Academy was adjudged the overall best in the Senior High School category, Josephus Memorial School took the first position in the Cadet Division while the Ministry of Health Basic School came first in the Basic School Division.

They were presented with trophies, and other prizes.
