All road leads to Accra Sports Stadium tonight for 2022 President’s Cup

All is set for the 2022 President Cup to be staged tonight at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, the two most glamourous clubs in the country will renew their rivalry tonight as they battle for supremacy.

The game will be played to honour President Akufo Addo with the Ghana League Club Association [GHALCA] serving as the organizers of the game.

The game has been scheduled to kick off at 18:00GMT.

Meanwhile, both clubs will pocket GH¢50,000 each as an appearance fee.

According to GHALCA, aside from the GH¢50,000 appearance fee for each club, Hearts and Kotoko will also take home 25% each of the total gate proceeds.

“Football is all about business and at the same time it brings us together, so the two clubs will take an appearance fee of GH¢50,000 each,” GHALCA Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo told Graphic Sports.

“GHALCA, as organisers, will take 50 per cent and the two clubs will take 25 per cent each of the remaining 50 per cent.”

Gabriel Opoku Arhin has been appointed to officiate the game.

Referee Arhin will be assisted by Ali Timuah Baah (Assistant I) and Freeman Awuloo (Assistant II) while Philip Arthur Forson serves as the fourth official with Moses Abaidoo Mensah acting as the Match Commissioner.

Hearts and Kotoko last faced each other in the President’s Cup in 2019, with the Porcupine Warriors coming back from behind to record a 2-1 victory.
