Accra: Actress cum socialite, Rosemond Brown, known as Akuapem Polo, has issued a stern warning to online fraudsters, commonly referred to as 'gameboys,' who are active within Ghana's social media space. She has urged them to remain vigilant and cautious following recent developments.
According to Ghana Web, Akuapem Polo's warning comes in the wake of a TikTok post she made after the arrests of several individuals involved in romance scams and wire fraud. She highlighted that those who previously collaborated with a lady who was recently arrested and failed to support her during her legal troubles might now be at risk, as she could have disclosed their names during a plea bargain.
Akuapem Polo specifically advised, "If you are a gameboy or a businessman and you know you've worked with a certain lady in the industry who got arrested, and you didn't help her out or support her when she got arrested, you'd better lie low and limit your travels to Europe, the UK, or the US. Because when these people get caught, they will provide the names of their accomplices."
The actress also noted a noticeable decrease in international travel among some industry figures. She pointed out that this reduction is not due to financial constraints or lack of opportunities, but rather a fear of being tracked. "Can't you see that most of these industry players have reduced their travels? It's not because they don't have money or they do not get gigs in these countries. They are staying low because they know they are on a wanted list. Stay low and eliminate travelling because you are being tracked," she emphasized.
Akuapem Polo's observations follow the arrests of individuals such as Abu Trica, Dada Joe Remix, and Asante Akim North MP Ohene Kwame Frimpong, who have been linked to romance scams and wire fraud schemes.
