Kadjebi: Mr Rabiu Awale, Mr Merigah Abdul Sataru, Mr Ewormvor Richard Senyo, Mr Joseph Nana Oboako, and Mr Alhassan Sam Shamoon have been elected unopposed as Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Organiser, and Nasara Coordinator, respectively, of the Akan Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the party's Constituency Executive Elections held at Kadjebi in the Oti Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the election took place at the Rashid Bawa Assembly Hall of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) and saw substantial competition for the remaining executive positions. Delegates are voting under heightened security measures to ensure a smooth electoral process. A total of 1,012 delegates are tasked with electing executives to guide the party's operations in the constituency over the next four years.
The contested positions include First Vice-Chairman, Second Vice-Chairman, Women's Organiser, Treasurer, Youth Organiser, and Communications Officer. For the First Vice-Chairman role, Messrs Noah Kwame Wadja and Francis Agorson are in the running, while Adams Mutawakil and Fati Iddrisu vie for the Second Vice-Chairman slot. The Youth Organiser race features Messrs Kelebe Paapa and Adams Nafiu, with Madam Nyam Abena Bigornu and Madam Annatu Yussif competing for the Women's Organiser position.
The Treasurer role is fiercely contested by Mr Abubakar Sedick, Mrs Kwadade Cardigah Kafui, and Mr Mashood Abiola Amusum. Meanwhile, Mr Frank Adjei Worlanyo and Mr Mustapha Ahmed Diarra are the candidates for the Communications Officer position. Voting commenced after election officials completed delegate accreditation and clarified the voting procedures to ensure transparency and orderliness.
Security officers from the Ghana Police Service are on-site to maintain peace and order, with the polling centre's atmosphere remaining calm as delegates steadily arrive to cast their votes. Party supporters and observers have expressed hope that the election will bolster the party's structures for future political activities in the constituency.
Election officials have stated that ballot counting will begin immediately after the polls close, followed by the declaration of winners for the various contested positions. The Constituency Executive Elections are part of the NPP's broader initiative to elect constituency officers nationwide, aiming to strengthen the party's management and prepare for future electoral battles.
